Christmas exchange Capitolo dos

Everyone is saying that they've had the same people etc. etc. We had a weird order and then we went out of order a couple of years ago when Josh and Karina got whitney the guitar, but we are now back on track and have a list for the next umpteen years in moms awesome address binder. If there are any other questions, concerns, or complaints let mom know ;D

You Know You're From Reno If...

reno arch by chicadecasa.

I saw this and thought it was pretty fantastic!  Some of them I don't get, but for the most part it's so true.  I hope enjoy!
You know you live in Reno if...

...it snows in the morning, and then it's 80 degrees and sunny in the afternoon.

...you've eaten an awful awful.

...you've put soap in casino fountains.

...you still call the Grand Sierra Resort the Hilton, and you despise its new name.

...you've been to Jack in the Box or Del Taco after 2am, and the drive-thru line is at least 1/2 hour long.

...you've driven around the entire city on McCarran Blvd. for fun.

...you understand "keep the canon blue" and FUNLV.

...people ask you if the cops wear hot pants.

...everything is open 24 hours.

...you've referred to it as No-Town, Draino, etc.

...you float down the Truckee (or go sledding)  on huge tubes you bought from a tire store.

...you've woken up at 3am for the balloon races, and you know what dawn patrol is.

...you've taken pictures under the arch.

...you giggle any time someone mentions 4th Street.

...the weather changes every 5 minutes.

...you've waved to Crazy George on his skateboard with his kneepads.

...you've wondered why there's a statue downtown that resembles a giant piece of swiss cheese.

...you've swam in the Sparks marina and then wondered why you smell so gross.

...you've been mobbing up at Moss.

...you know someone everywhere you go.

...people ask you if you live near Las Vegas.

...you've been to the rodeo.

...you go disco bowling/rock'n'bowling every Saturday night.

...you know who Sol Jibe is.

...there's more illegal immigrants than US citizens, and more people speak Spanish than English.

...you've played keno while eating dinner.

...you've made out with someone on Windy Hill.

...you've played dress-up at Wal-Mart at least once, and you hang out there for fun.

...you go to Zephyr Cove for 4th of July.

...everyone drives lifted trucks with tinted windows.

...you've had all-you-can-eat sushi, and you wonder why no other city offers it.

...you don't think Carson City is worthy of being the capital.

...the wave pool at Wild Waters is the best thing ever.

...you've been to a Silver Sox game.

...it snows in June.

...you've gone ice blocking on the hills at McQueen.

...you know it's pronounced Nev-A-da, not Nev-AW-da.

...Silverpeak is a high school reunion every time you go there.

Baby Horton

Thank you Mandye for the super cute sling.  It matches some of the fabric that Nana used in the baby quilt.  What are the chances?

I'm excited to use it with a real baby!  Caleb had to try it on too.  Caleb has used Horton to make sure that the carseat, baby swing, bouncy chair and some of the baby clothes will be good for his little brother.

When I Grow Up...

(Here's the reply the teacher received the following day)

Dear Mrs. Jones,

I wish to clarify that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer.
I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn't show me dancing around a pole. It's supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot.

From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Smith

...

I saw this on my friends blog and couldn't pass it by. I didn't look it up on snopes because I didn't care-it was just too funny.

Courtney-

I agree that American Idol is totally fabulous! I don't agree, however, about Cara. I think she is definitely not an asset to the show. I don't remember exactly who I like but there have been a few people that I think are going to do really well. The Castro guy that I LOVED last year, not so much a fan of his brother. We'll definitely have to keep tabs after Hollywood week when it's easier to keep track of people! BTW-Good luck with the new job this Monday!

I hope everyone is doing well. I love and miss you all! Have a great day.

Love, Megan

American Idol Talk

I know my sisters watch the show (and are obsessed) and now that I have TV I can watch the show (and am obsessed), and I am desperate for some communication with the fam, so I am going to ask you to talk to me about American Idol.

I personally am excited for this season(esp b/c I have TV and am now a TV junky). What do you think about the new host? I think she is good, makes the show that much more exciting. She has good comments and yet sticks up for herself. I was FURIOUS about the whole bikini chick! tacky both on her part and on the show's part on trying to get us to stay tuned to see bikini girl sing. But the thing so far that has shocked me the most was yesterday (in Louisville) when Kara thought that girl was on the show as a joke because she couldnt sing and she just about started crying! I felt so bad for her! What do you think?

Fly me to the moon...

Kraig and I were able to spend the day with Whitney, Kirsten, and Dad on Monday. We went to the Gateway ( a big out door mall that was built when the Olympics came to town) and watched a 3D movie at the planetarium there. It was called fly me to the moon. It was a pretty cute movie about a couple of flies that hitch a ride to the moon with none other than Neal Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. It was fun and we were glad to spend some time with the family!

Whitney telling us the weather is going to be hazy hazy hazy

The girls decieded to visit mars... no boys though, they must be on another planet

The woodbury's at Reno

Well, we miss you guys! Christmas was different for sure! but We enjoyed having the girls wake up in their"own"(rent) house! We had to wake Kelsey up! she was so deep sleep We almost let her sleep,(never happens! only when we want her to be awake!) and we loved all of the presents! Thank you Nana and Papa the stools have been Used every day! Kirsten ,Josh has his popcorn popper Back! He was pretty sad without it! David and Mandye the Girls loved the presents and thank you for all the Cards!

We are in the process of find out if we are accepted for a house loan! We are pretty exited and at the same time anxious but, We know it will be worth it!. we love you and Miss you.

Question

Is everybody receiving these posts? People haven't responded to anything (besides me of course) in a LONG time! I feel so far away now, i need to hear what is going on! and there has been ZERO participation from a younger sister of mine who will remain nameless (***cough-Kirsten-cough***)
OK i am of my soap box now... I hope everyone is doing good. Things are going well here. Kraig is loving his classes. I think he is a little nervous b/c he has to get his portfolio that will allow him to enter the program done by the end of February, and he just started drawing Monday. But he really likes it.
WE also get to go see a concert with Bobby McFerrin for one of his classes. I think that will be pretty fun. Did you know that he sang all the parts to don't worry be happy him self? wow He has learned how to sing while breathing in as well as out well... you will just have to watch
